Long Beach Food Scene Week 2024 kicks off with over 50 restaurants participating

Share

It is with great pride that I announce Long Beach Food Scene Week 2024 will kick off come Aug. 9 through Aug. 18—and will feature the city’s best restaurants as over 50 spaces have confirmed their participation for the second year of the annual event.

Wait—so what exactly is Long Beach Food Scene Week?

Launched last year, Long Beach Food Scene Week is a ten-day, joyful celebration of our city’s rich and diverse culinary scene, honoring the resilience and creativity of the hospitality industry while also highlighting the many great restaurants throughout the city.

During Long Beach Food Scene Week, diners will have the opportunity to experience our city’s top restaurants in ways they aren’t able to on the regular: Some restaurants will use the week to flex and experiment, testing out new dishes; some will come with an entirely new prix fixe menu; some might simply offer discounts on already-loved items. The major point is to drive diners toward these spaces during the month—August—where restaurants often see their lowest sales.

This weeklong celebration is about more than just the food

Even, more Long Beach Food Scene Week is more than just a celebration of food; it is also an opportunity to support the hospitality industry’s recovery from the tumultuous past few years—including this past year, which has seen an array of restaurants go up for sale or outright close.

During this week, I am committed to supporting the mental health and well-being of hospitality workers, aiming to work with potential partners in order to provide them with resources and training to help them cope with burnout and stress, along with hosting a mental health symposium and hospitality appreciation event thanks to the support of Baby Gee Bar.

With over 50 participating restaurants thus far, Long Beach Food Scene Week promises to be a highlight of Long Beach’s culinary calendar along with being a resource: Its website will have a complete directory of every restaurant participating to become a resource for restaurants and patrons across the city.
