This Long Beach ‘unicorn whiskey’ tasting features everything from King of Kentucky to Old Forester Birthday Bourbon

Share

Long Beach Last Call 2026 is upon us, my fair city. This 10-day celebration of our city’s vibrant cocktail and bar culture will host a series of events. And that includes a whiskey tasting unlike any other. Angel Share’s “Unicorn of Whiskey Tasting” breaks open the most coveted parts of owner Jack Walls’s expansive whiskey collection (which happens to be one of the most expansive whiskey collections in the region).

“This is really about allowing the community to taste bottles that are practically impossible to find,” Jack said. “King of Kentucky bottles are extremely rare. And reach as much as three thousand dollars on the secondary market, making single pours in premium bars run as much as $500 dollars. If you can even find it. Less than 600 bottles were produced. And Angel’s Share is the only bar in the region to receive an allocation… It’s just one of many bottles we plan on opening for this event.”

King of Kentucky will be one of multiple, extra-rare bottles ot be featured at Angel Share’s Unicorn of Whiskey tasting event for Last Call.

What to expect from Angel Share’s “Unicorn of Whiskey” tasting…

The Unicorn of Whiskey tasting is a private, one-night-only experience. It will offer one-ounce pours of some of the most coveted bottles in the world, including:

  • King of Kentucky
  • Old Forester Birthday Bourbon
  • Heaven Hill 90th Anniversary
  • WhistlePig Boss Hog XII
  • And additional rare, highly allocated selections.

“Old Forester Birthday Bourbon regularly sells for over $1200 per bottle, while WhistlePig Boss Hog XII is priced around $600 at retail, and Heaven Hill 90th Anniversary carries a suggested retail price of about $400 per bottle as a limited release,” Jack said. “Taken together, the estimated retail value of the tasting pours alone exceeds $700 per guest.”

Guests will be greeted with a handcrafted The Macallan welcome drink on arrival and receive exclusive event swag as a keepsake of this singular experience. Throughout the evening, the whiskeys will be paired with everything from pulled pork sliders and pork belly burnt ends to smoked ribs with a bourbon glaze. In between, feel free to pair your whiskey with a selection of cheeses, nuts, and dark chocolates to highlight different flavor profiles in each pour.

Angel’s Share is located at 5110 E. 2nd St. in Belmont Shore. The Unicorn of Whiskies tasting will take place on Wednesday, Mar. 4 from 6:30PM to 9PM. To reserve your space, click here.
