Long Beach Restaurant Week announces inaugural event with more than 40 spaces participating

It is with great pride that the organizers behind Long Beach Restaurant Week announce the launch of its inaugural event, taking place from August 9 through August 18. The event promises to be a joyful celebration of Long Beach’s rich and diverse culinary scene, honoring the resilience and creativity of the hospitality industry while also highlighting the many great restaurants throughout the city.

Co-founded by Hazel Quimpo, an early Yelp employee with a passion for food, and Brian Addison, award-winning writer and steward for the local food community, LBRW is the culmination of their shared vision to uplift and support the hospitality industry in Long Beach.

“We are thrilled to unveil the first-ever Long Beach Restaurant Week,” said Quimpo. “As someone who has worked in the industry, I know just how much passion and dedication goes into each dish and each service—and we can’t wait to share that with SoCal.”

During LBRW, diners will have the opportunity to experience Long Beach’s top restaurants through prix fixe menus, providing a chance to taste some of the best cuisine in town at a reasonable price. But LBRW is more than just a celebration of food; it is also an opportunity to support the hospitality industry’s recovery from the tumultuous past few years.

“In all frankness, it is about time that our city has a proper week dedicated to the businesses that feed both our stomachs and souls,” said Addison. “And this is about showcasing those spaces—the owners, the chefs, the staff—in ways that will remind both our direct community and perhaps those beyond our city’s borders that Long Beach is, indeed, a destination food city.”

LBRW is committed to supporting the mental health and well-being of hospitality workers, aiming to work with potential partners in order to provide them with resources and training to help them cope with burnout and stress. With over 30 participating restaurants thus far, LBRW promises to be a highlight of Long Beach’s culinary calendar along with being a resource: Its website will have a complete directory of every restaurant participating as well as future entries to become a resource for restaurants and patrons across the city.
