SnoCorner, the bright tricolored snoball shop across from Long Beach Polytechnic High School, is more than a dessert destination—it is owner Ashley Monconduit’s expression of two places that shaped her: Long Beach and New Orleans.
The shop serves silky New Orleans-style snoballs, carefully developed beignets, and made-to-order funnel cakes, all built around Ashley’s idea of being “New Orleans inspired and Long Beach made.”
And now, the success of SnoCorner has brought on an updated menu that includes bananas foster funnel cake and one of the most coveted spots for bourgeoning SoCal food brands: A space at the annual Coachella festival. Joining fellow Long Beach brands that have appeared in the past, like Battambong BBQ and Shlap Muan, SnoCorner is ready to take over SoCal.

The road to Coachella wasn’t easy for SnoCorner…
For Ashley, success hasn’t come without sacrifice—often meaning missing out in order to keep building.
“I opened my business young,” she said. “Honestly, a bit blind to everything it would demand. There’s so much that goes unseen: the strategies, the attention to detail, the effort in areas you never anticipate. Along the way, I’ve become more relentless, sharper, and more tactful. I’ve grown up through this process—which is funny, because I quite literally grew up in this building—supported by people who have never wavered in their belief in me and my capabilities. Even my team, including a couple who have been with me for two and three years.

“Every sacrifice has been in service of something I love, so it’s worth it.”
There’s a spiritual reason Ashley is so deeply connected to Tiana, the New Orleans princess in “The Princess and the Frog:” Like Tiana, while friends consistently ask her where she’s been and why she’s not out, she’s at one place. And that is building her business.

The lovingly Long Beach-y, deeply NOLA-dipped story of SnoCorner…
That identity comes directly from family history. Ashley grew up in Long Beach but spent formative time in New Orleans, especially in the Gentilly neighborhood where her father’s family lived. During visits, she became fascinated with local snoball culture and even volunteered at the well-known Stop Jockin’ Sno-Balls to learn the craft firsthand. Those experiences, along with summers spent near Dillard University, gave her both technical knowledge and a personal connection to the treat she would later bring west.
SnoCorner also carries the legacy of Black family ownership in Central Long Beach. The building has been in Ashley’s family for more than five decades, purchased by her maternal grandparents Joe and Lucy Kennerson, whose presence reflected a broader generation of Black families building ownership and opportunity in the city.

Ashley now operates her business in the same rooms where she grew up, supported daily by her parents—especially her father, who still steps in whenever needed. For her, SnoCorner is both a business and a continuation of that family history.
More than a place to grab dessert, SnoCorner aims to recreate the communal feeling of a New Orleans snoball stand: music outside, strangers talking while they wait, and a sense of neighborhood gathering. Ashley sees it as a cultural bridge—one where Long Beach residents can experience the same warmth and ritual she remembers from New Orleans. The result is a sweet shop that feels deeply rooted in both cities, equal parts neighborhood hangout, family tribute, and culinary love letter.
SnoCorner is located at 1701 Atlantic Ave.
