Free concerts in the Long Beach Airport plaza? Bring on the Airwaves series.

Share

Airwaves, the free monthly concert series from the Long Beach Airport, will kick off July 12. Picture three outdoor, family‑friendly gigs. All in front of the historic terminal. No TSA lines. And a bonus: four hours of free parking in Structure B for concert-goers.

“Music’s the cultural heartbeat of Long Beach,” Mayor Rex Richardson said. “Airwaves at Long Beach Airport celebrates what makes this city special—great music, local flavor, and shared moments with friends and family—right at our award‑winning airport.”

What will each month look like for Airwaves at Long Beach Airport?

  • Saturday, July 12 — Sweet Soul
Think Motown-era warmth and harmony—headlined by The Delfonics Experience. Opening acts: Maria Sanchez & Midnight Groove, plus Tony Greene.
  • Saturday, August 16 — Rocksteady
That chilled‑out bridge between ska and reggae, with Monty Neysmith (Symarip founding legend) headlining, backed by Western Standard Time (brass power!) and The Trojanites.
  • Saturday, September 20 — Latin Jazz Funk
Bold, brass‑driven fusion of Latin rhythms and funk vibes. Artist lineup to be announced soon.

All shows run 5PM to 8PM and are free with RSVP (until capacity). Each come with two openers, a headliner, plus DJ sets in between. Grab a bite from food trucks, let the kids play at nearby activities, join guided tours of the terminal, have some beer and wine for purchase. Bring your own chair, settle in, and chill under the sunset.

Weather’s a thing—come prepared. Bags over 12×12” or coolers? Nope. Clear bags encouraged. All bags subject to inspection. Service animals welcome but please, no pets.
