Bring on the Deadpool: Meet Wrexham AFC team this Friday in Long Beach

Share

In what is one of the most massively intriguing and outright peculiar mixes of professions—athletics, acting, brand promotion, alcoholic beverage sales—and interrelationships—husbands, wives, employees, sponsors—Blake Lively, the wife of Ryan Reynolds, will be bringing the Welsh underdog-team-the-world-cheered-on Wrexham AFC soccer club (which was bought by Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney) to Long Beach in order to promote her Betty Booze sparkling cocktail brand (which is also the team’s training kit sponsor).

It’s much like a Ted Lasso scenario come to life when they arrive at the Long Beach Towne Center’s Total Wine & More this Friday, July 21, from 2PM to 3PM—and frankly put, we’re here for it.

Fresh off their Vanarama National League championship win, the appearance makes sense: Wrexham is officially about to kick off their U.S. tour, playing a round of friendlies with both U.S. and European teams beginning July 19, where they face-off with Chelsea at Kenan Stadium in North Carolina. That is followed by a bout with L.A. Galaxy II at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson on July 22; a play against Manchester United at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego come July 25; and a final round against Philadelphia Union II at Subaru Park in Philly on July 28.

Wrexham AFC will appear at Total Wine & More, located 7400 Carson Blvd., on Friday, July 21, from 2PM to 3PM.
