In what seems to have become an annual tradition, Chef Philip Pretty and Chef Jairo Bogarín are partnering up once again for a collaboration—but this round, instead of Heritage joining in on the fun, it will be Chef Philip’s O&R Bagels with Chef Jairo’s Hamburgers Nice.
It all goes down this Saturday, Jan. 25 from 10AM to 1PM (or until they’re sold out).

This isn’t the first time the mighty pair have decided to gather powers.
Chef Philip—who with his sister, Lauren, has led Long Beach’s Michelin-starred Heritage, the recent Olive & Rose at City Center, and its morning spin-off, O&R Bagels (yes, the $100 bagel place)—and Chef Jairo—whose hamburger popup has become the stuff of Long Beach burger legend—partnered last year. The pair partnered to return to Chef Philip’s Heritage-was-once-a-sandwich-shop roots.
This round, the pair will not aim for recreating something long missed but reinterpreting what O&R Bagels look and feel like—with cans of Hamburger Ice (the burger popup’s beer collab with Ambitious Ales) and Olive & Rose’s newly minted cocktail program.
What to expect from the O&R Bagels and Hamburgers Nice collaboration.
“We’re really happy to be in their kitchen,” Chef Jairo said. “They’re making some great food in our city and we’re looking forward to presenting some exciting snacks for everyone.”
What will those snacks be? Hamburgers Nice will be presenting a “Date Night Bagel,” which is their take on a richer, deeper-flavored restaurant burger. Think thick beef patty, swiss, bacon jam, and roasted garlic spread.
And what will Chef Philip be doing? Well, as is tradition, is he keeping his part a secret until you arrive.
“Hamburgers Bagels” will take place on Saturday, Jan. 25 from 10AM to 1PM (or until they’re sold-out) at O&R Bagels, located inside Olive and Rose at 255 Atlantic Ave. To RSVP, click here.
